The nature of most steam lines makes them difficult to protect from corrosion; a line which runs at constant temperatures will have little or no corrosion problems; however, if you cycle that line from hot to cold or ambient, corrosion becomes a big issue.

Steam is hot, most corrosion control products cannot take the heat so to speak. Polyguard has developed RG-2400 ET for this application. RG-2400 ET can withstand constant elevated temperatures to 350°F and can tolerate short ‘spikes’ up to 400°F.

This product is currently being employed in underground steam vaults where corrosion is a major problem.
