Because there are
a variety of components in a typical pipe system, Polyguard has developed
tactics and procedures
for protecting all these assets.

For maximum protection follow these guidelines:
1. Remove all loose scale with a water jet or wire brush
and then clean with RG-2400® or alcohol cleaner to remove any oil
film or loose rust residue.
2. If no scale exists, the first step is to clean the vessel with RG-2400
cleaner or alcohol to remove any oil films.
3. RG-2400 should be brush-applied into crevices and around fittings
or appurtenances. Special care should be used to force the RG-2400 into
nuts and bolts, flanges, or any other irregular surface.
4. Fasten the insulation according to the mechanical specifications,
as RG-2400 is not an adhesive and should not be relied on to hold the
insulation on the tank or vessel.
5. Install a self-healing vapor barrier such as Polyguard's
Fabwrap 20™ over the insulation to complete the waterproofing
of the system. Install the final protective jacket (PVC or Metal) over
the vapor barrier.
Conditions
and considerations:
1. Although damp surfaces can adversely affect application, all surfaces
should be wiped as dry as possible prior to installation. COLD, wet surfaces
MUST have a light mesh cloth installed to improve material adherence.
2. DO NOT apply to surfaces where running water or rainy conditions
are present.
3. Do not apply to surfaces with visible frost without calling for special
instructions.
4. Surface temperatures should not exceed 150°F;
ensure that you use OSHA safety guidelines for personnel protection
when working with
hot surfaces.
Safety precautions:
1. There are no known hazards associated with the application of RG-2400.
2. RG-2400 is classified as an irritant for chemical hygiene purposes.
3. Hand and eye protection is recommended – protective
gloves, glasses, goggles for spray application. Use of respirator for
spray application
is dependent upon thinning solvent used.
4. RG-2400 will not burn; however, the thinning solvents can. Use caution
after altering the flammability of RG-2400 by thinning.
5. Consult your safety procedures (and our MSDS) for further directions.
